What an amazing week I have just spent in Washington DC attending the Association of Image Consultants International (AICI) Conference. I met some fantastic people, made new friends and contacts from around the World and learnt from a range of inspirational speakers. It will all happen again in 2 years time in Mexico City – I want to book my ticket now – maybe adding on a holiday afterwards!!
As I was pondering what to wear in my previous blog – here are a few photos of some of my outfits (please excuse the photography – I usually only remembered as I was about to leave my hotel room!)
I based my whole Conference wardrobe around my blue/grey Zara bag – ensuring that all my daytime (and most of my evening) outfits could be worn with this bag. What I wore included:
Day One (forgot to take a photo!)
Was a walk around the Museum of Art and a shopping trip + dinner in the evening at a beautiful fish restaurant in Alexandria – I wore my navy maxi dress with flowery flat sandals to keep cool and walk around Washington in comfort.
Day Two (Conference + dinner in hotel)
Navy jersey jumpsuit from Phase Eight that I got in the summer sale in July, pale blue cardigan from Jigsaw to keep warm under the ferocious air conditioning! Plus navy platform sandals.
Day Three (Conference + Awards Evening + Night out in local bar)
Pink and blue silk top (from Fullwoods boutique in Harpenden), grey harem pants from Monsoon and grey courts from Russell & Bromley + blue pashmina wrap to keep warm. For the night out I wore a silky top from Oasis, navy jeans from Jigsaw and the flat, flowery sandals.
Day Four (Conference + Gala Dinner)
Grey wrap dress from Phase Eight, vest top from Primark and grey court shoes during the day and my silky Phase Eight jumpsuit with the platform sandals and blue wrap for the Gala Dinner.
Day Five (Conference + Sightseeing)
Silky wrap jacket from Phase Eight, navy top from Next, navy jeans from Jigsaw and Platform sandals during the day. In the evening I met a friend of a friend and we went to a diner and then for a walk around the monuments of Washington (amazing!) I changed into the Oasis top and switched my shoes for a pair of grey Sketchers Go Walk (so comfortable!)
Day Six (Sightseeing and travelling home – forgot to take a photo!)
I wore a navy linen top (I can’t remember where from!), wide legged jersey trousers from Next (fabulous for travelling in and cool for walking as the humidity was very high during the day), the grey trainers + the pale blue cardigan for the flight.
I was very pleased with my condensed wardrobe for the week and I even took another couple of options that I didn’t wear as the opportunity to change didn’t arise. I also added in a couple of evening bags, a selection of necklaces and a swimsuit! Everything fitted in my medium suitcase and I was well underweight for my luggage – It was a bit heavier on the way back – but they did let us loose in a shopping Mall!
Apart from one of the navy jumpsuits and the platform sandals the clothes were all old favourites that I mixed and matched so that I could relax and enjoy the experience.
How would you cope??? And what would you choose to wear??
