Train to become a Personal Stylist,
Are you ready to start your new life and new career working in a creative industry that is flexible, fulfilling and fun?
Let us help you make your dreams become a reality with our professional, flexible and affordable Personal Stylist Course. |
Our unique and stand alone Personal Stylist course has been designed specifically for YOU if you wish to build your business around Personal Shopping and Wardrobe Management for female clients. This bespoke course is based on the accredited Foundation Modules and offers a fantastic stepping stone towards a new career. If you would also like to consult men I would recommend completing the Men’s Style Module.
The course covers:
- Colour analysis theory, enabling you to understand the importance of colour and determine the correct colour direction for a client.
- The complete Women’s Style Module.
- The complete Wardrobe Weeding and Personal Shopping Course.
- Business planning and marketing.
You could study the Personal Stylist Course to build a stand alone wardrobe and shopping business or use it within, for example, your existing hairdressing or fashion retail business.
Following the course you will be able to quickly and accurately assess a client’s colouring, body shape, scale and proportions. Combining this information with their lifestyle requirements will enable you to find outfits from their existing clothes, advise them on their future wardrobe planning as well as find clothes and accessories that enhance their figure and colouring.
This is a growing demand for people to focus on this part of the industry. With the increase in “makeover” programmes on the television, people have become much more aware of selecting the right clothes to suit them and their body. Also, as people become busier the need for personal shoppers and wardrobe organisers has escalated.
This professional course can be studied either Face to Face, in the classroom and shopping centre or via our Distance Learning DVDs in the comfort of your own home. Both options will allow you to achieve your dream simply and quickly.
I worked in a number of John Lewis department stores for many years as a Consultant Fashion Advisor, gaining hands on experience of working with real life customers. I may be involved in a lot of training nowadays but I am still a practicing consultant, working one to one with my clients in their wardrobes and in the shops. I love the buzz that I get when I know that I have changed the way that client feels about their clothes, shopping and themselves – there really is no better feeling!
Some Frequently Asked Questions
Do I really need to train? I already have an “eye” for style and I’ve read a couple of books, surely that is enough to get me started?
The Study in Style courses offer you the underpinning knowledge, theory and skills to be able to work with a variety of clients. You will be trained to give objective, professional and informed advice on what suits them, as well as what doesn’t work! As a qualified consultant you will also be able to demand higher fees.
What are the benefits of training with an FIPI Audited Training Provider?
Because it gives you peace of mind and assures a professional, quality standard. Our training content, equipment and materials are all audited by The Federation of Image Consultants (trading as FIPI), ensuring that our training meets the standards set by the TFIC/City & Guilds of London, Masters Award in Image Consultancy. The Study in Style course content is simple to understand and implement both for you as a consultant and for your clients.
What makes the Study in Style courses unique?
Because you get the benefit of my experience, expertise and enthusiasm! I still work with real life clients every week, so I can certainly “walk the walk and talk the talk”. The colour analysis system that we use is simple, effective and easy to understand. I break down the style training into easy to follow, manageable chunks and because of my knowledge working as a personal shopper, I can pass on invaluable tips.
How do I get my new business up and running?
As part of the courses we look at how to market and develop your business – what to do and what not to do! This is backed up with a business management CD that you can listen to at any time, to help you to think through your ideas. For example, we look at how to promote your business services, deal with telephone enquiries, plan a website, write an elevator pitch and price your services appropriately.
How soon can I start working as Personal Stylist?
You will be able to start your business as soon as you have finished the course, although you will probably be practising on your friends and family whilst you’re learning.
